Full Moon Madness

I feel
disillusions bitter bite breaking skin
As I’m
racking my brain, while waiting without win
I see
Full Moon, pregnant with her illegitimate wrath
As she
washes over the earth with her spellbound bath
I sit
in this lonely place in time; 'tis so cold
And think:
Why’s it so dark under this grey light’s hold?
I hate
this aching in my chest, it’s like a hole
As I
wonder without end why I’m faint in soul

  1. Ah, Jen, lovely work with this! It's powerfully moving. I love the imagery and atmosphere. There is a heavy weight within this poem, and I can feel it.

By the way, I've been wanting to tell you - stop worrying so much about what people say about meter! Write what feels good and sounds good to YOU. Creative writing is an energy that is stifled by too much rule-following and over-analysing. Your writing is beautiful and filled with real soul. Don't stop, and don't question ... just let it flow, like this one.

  2. Stella, Stella, Stella; how I love your words. I cannot help but smile whenever I read your comments or writing(s), as they somehow flex from the screen in animated proportions. It is as if your presence extends beyond the electronic space. I was just reading a comment you made on Clark's blog and this hit me in the most profound way.

Thank you for encouraging me, always. It is like soul nurturing. Although some critique is good for a serious writer, as it is conviction for the spirit, it is also nice when the soul is embraced.

  3. Thank you Jen, those words mean so much to me, and I return them to you, as well! I have a few very dear penpals who nurture my arts and soul, but I've never met them as they're all in other states and countries. So, you're like that special penpal I actually get to KNOW in PERSON, if that makes sense - the visible encourager and sharer, if that's a word, of writing and artistic inspiration. I love your blog, and seeing new poems every week makes me so happy. Your words also jump out of the electronic world and into my own space. They're very HUMAN. And that's what good writing is, really: the reflection of the human soul.
